Cheers to The Jesters for being The Jesters(great bunch with great songs!),thanks to Wim Slut and his missus for the hospitality (and the history trail the next day!),all at each venue who looked after us with food and drink,Vera and Lis ( and the crazy mohican fucker for being a great DJ! You can't beat a bit of "Grease" when on tour! ha,ha.) for a great night in Mechelen ,Nico and Eric and the rest of the gang in Hoorn,Piley and Bee for intorducing us to real pussy(Stretch and Baron - what else did you think i meant?),Chris and Rudy for putting up with us(every time! ha,ha.),Anne for rescuing me from a night in a big tent on my own (even if it meant being in a car with Pukey Yves!). The guys from Frontstage Fest. and Madsin for a class day! Jan the man for having the best sideboards around, the nice people fromThe Ramble, and of course all at 'T Kaffee - always a pleasure! But most important, all the crew and friends -Izzy for showing us how to drink,Chris and Franz for coming all the way from Austria,Gwinny and Lianne - all the way from Amsterdam?,Alex and Emilia all the way from Brazil(quite an wordly crowd we;re geting eh?),all the bands we played with, dancers, drinkers, spitters, drivers, feeders and people who generally know how to enjoy themselves - The Punks!

Till the next time - 9 weeks and counting! Woohoo!!!

29/06/07

Shit! I've been so busy on the myspace i forgot we had a website to run! lol

Ok - so what's been happening in the last 3 months? We've done a few gigs around the Uk,did Amsterdam Rebellion which was class!,done ashort euro tour in Germnay and Austria as part of the release of"Anthem's For The Doomed& Dazed". Had an absolutely brilliant time, met great people(one being Kobi from Dambuster Records who are doing the new release) and saw some great bands(such as Skaface and Fightball)

Now we've wrote a few new songs in the spare few seconds we had and are now preparing for the "Anthems" second leg of the tour in Belgium and Holland.

In the meantime,we're busy with our October tour which is going to be a killing 3 weeks! How the fuck we'll manage that,i DON'T know!ha,ha! Maybe a few nights in with a hot water bottle might help?

So that's it for now,if you want to contact us,it's easier going through the myspace - if you want to but any PunkIn sunderland c.d.'s,check out the new site for Stretch Records.

Now see how long it is before i rememebr to update this fucker again!

25/03/07

Ok, time to start work again! Had a great break for a few months but now it,s time to start letting you know what's been happening in our little world!

Firstly,we're about to have "Anthems For The Doomed And Dazed" released by Dambuster Records(basec in Austria) who are distributed by Cargo Records. It's a compilation of our previous two c.d.'s with an extra track thrown in and it'll be available around the world on vynl and Europe on c.d.

Punk-Rebel Records(based in Canada) are releasing it on c.d. in Canada, with a different colour cover for you collectors out there!

Skalp Records in Bulgaria are also releasing a split c.d. with us and a band from California which is going to feature a different set of 5 songs than those on "Anthems".

We've got 3 European tours being set up for May,July ans september which is hopefully going to be to promote a new album which we are recording this Summer at Trinity Heights(our old faithful Fred!).

I'd like to say thanks to all those who turned up to our last gig in Decmber and say it was one of our favourite gigs we've played to date - you we're all brilliant company and ta for all the pressies for my birthday! We'll have to do it annually!

23/11/06

Just seen another compilation we've been featured on from Germany called "Take Good Care Of My Little Brother". It's been released on Audio-Terror Records by our good friend Paco.

I'll have some to sell on in a few weeks time so if you're interested in hearing some cracking German punk with a little Racket thrown in for good measure, just give me a shout and it's yours!

Or you can contact the man himself at audio-terro@web.de

Only a few gigs left now till the end of the year, then it'll be March before we're gigging again so get yourselves along and we'll have a party!

17/11/06

We'd like to sat thankyou to all the people who supported us at the Rancid show on Monday. It was an amazing night had by all! Thanks also to Rancid and all their crew who couldn't have been more helpful(except for the "dinne lady" who refused to feed us even though we;d been offered by Tim himself!) Nevermind, you can play punk rock on an empty stomach! lol

Also thanks to The Unseen for the gig in Liverpool. As Mark said, from 2,000 to 20 but it was still great !

If you haven't already, check the myspace page out cause i'm adding slideshows of the Racket Around The World pics aswell as some of us and our friends fucking about.

Only a few more gigs left before Christmas now so get yourself along and make a party cause we'll be taking a break for a few months.

10/10/06

Kev's on tour with 999 at the moment so get your arse out and see if he does a good job!

Also got to let you know that the gig with the US Bombs in Newport has been postponed due to internal isues with The Bombs. What a pisser! We were really looking forward to that one!

If you haven't got your Rancid tickets for Newcastle you want to hurry up cause there's only seating in the balcony left.

18/09/06

Back home again after the Underground gigs and what a great couple of weekends that's been! Couldn't have done it with a better bunch of people(that's unless i'd picked anyone off the street randomly!).

It really has been a sucess for the most part, even the couple that were;nt so well attanded turned out be a right laugh so thanks to all involved from Crashed Out and Drongos For Europe,Izzy and Loz for doing the thankless task of merch,Kev for driving(us mad!),bar managers to promoters to the punters and anyone who means anything to us! We'll definately be doing something similar next year so keep your eyes peeled.

Ta to Marios aswell for the Unseen gig and cheers to the Drongo Bongos for looking after us in such a strange land as Brumingham,we love yas!

24/08/06

Only two weeks to go now for UNDERGROUND NOW TOUR so get out there and buy your tickets cause it's gonna be a great set of gigs with our mates Crashed Out and Drongos For Europe. Check the gigs page for details.

And lastly(for the moment) i just want to thank our real friends who stick by us when decisions have to be made and realise what's best for the band on the whole- it's much appreciated!

24/08/06

Been a bit lazy latelt so that means i've got loads to catch you up on. In no particlar order(just what pops into my head first!):

Wasted- great weekend with me and Kev doing the Texas Terri gig aswell which was an absolute pleasure! It was great to work with her AND Johnny Skullknuckles from Goldblade. We did a few shows around the country aswell which went great(apart from not beint too lucky with the van but i'll write a book on that later). Just like to thank everyone involved and in particular TXT for giving us the oppurtunity to gig with her - an amazing performer and an amzing lady,we love you!

It was good to see all our friends from across Europe at Wasted - i hope you all had as good a time as we did(i'm sure you did judging by the drunken sites i saw all weekend!).

SOS Records(with Sony Distro) have almost concluded a deal with us but i'll let you know when we sign on the dotted line(should be any day now).

Also had a couple of great offers for support slots in the form of US Bombs and Rancid later this year so we're over the fucking moon! If it happens it'll be a dream come true.

07/06/06

Forgot to mention that Kev has been asked to help 999 out so did his first gig the other week in Sweden. Lucky bastard! It's funny how you can love a band when you;re a kid then end up being in the fuckers!(Kev's words - not mine!)

Also,me and Kev,along with the great Johnny Skullknuckles, have been asked to help out our friend Texas Terri Bomb and be her backing band for Wasted Blackpool and a few shows around that aswell. That's going to be interesting as Texas is one hell of a frontperson so check the dates out when they're released and pop along with your cowboy hat on - she'll love it!

07/06/06

Haven't managed to find the time to update recently so here's a few things at once(in no particular order!).

First, thanks for everyone who supported us in Wasted Amsterdam. It really was special to see you all there after the turn of events that could have put us in the shit! But now we really know who our friends are and it makes us very proud! You're brilliant!

Then there was Belgium - what a cracking weekend that was! Hooifeesten is a festival that's gonna be competing with Pukkelpop if it keeps growing like that. Brilliant organisation from class people - ta very much schatjes!

In the meantime,Punk In Sunderland volume 4 featuring Around The World has now been released so if you haven't got a copy yet i suggest you get one before they're all gone. It really is the best one yet with songs on fron some of the finest around at the moment - check it out. Thanks for all who were involved, bands, sponsors

and friends.

We've also had the pleasure of welcoming on board the Racket Mobile, the one and only(thank fuck for that!) Mick O'Brien. He's done a few gigs with us now and he really makes a difference(mainly when it comes to sharing the cans out!). But really,he's a great guitarist so now it means we can put in the things that would have normally only been possible in the studio.

We seem to have a lot happening gig wise coming up so we'll see yous around somewhere, till then, keep the beer cold!

23/04/06

There's a new compilation being released by Voice Of Culture from Berlin featuring us alongside The Briefs,The Real Mckenzies,Church Of Confidence and plenty of other great bands doing accoustic versions of their favourite songs. All are exclusive to this comp. so it's going to be a collectors item for sure! We've done "446" which worked really well accoustically(if i say so myself!)

You can order a copy along with the magazine by going to:

 www.voiceofculture.de/online/2005/shop/

I think it's 7 euros - a bargain to say the least!

10/03/06

Punx.NL have just released "Pleurop Plaat 3 " a c.d. featuring all the best bands from Holland and have also stuck a track on by yours truly (on account of me speaking the lingo!) Nice one lads! It's a cracker! Anyone interested in a copy can contact me and i'll sort you out.

Have just heard a great quote from Kerrang!Radio " Holy Racket are the best thing that's happened to British punk in ten years!" High praise indeed - we're not worthy!

Well, the gigs are starting again next week after a break of nearly 3 months in which time,Steve has wrote some corkers so all we have to do now is learn them! Hopefully by the time you next se us we'll have a few hoyed in!

If you don't know already, there's a great gig on at Carling Academy Newcastle so check it out.

31/12/05

So - this is the last news of 2005 and what a year it's been! The best thing has been meeting punks from all over the place and remembering that there are still some class people out there in this shitty world - we love yous all!

Here's wishing all you motherfuckers a great night tonight, and whatever you're doing, if it's lighting fireworks up your mates arse or just staying in with a cup of cocoa(boring gits!) we hope you do it in style

All the very best for 2006 and hope to see you's all sooner or later!

04/12/05

04/11/05

Got to say a big hello to Chris and her comrades from Austria. Thankyou all so much for a great time. We'll have to do it again next year!

Had a mail from SOS Records from USA who are interested in offering us a deal. They seem like a good set up so keep your fingers crossed!

Also got the piece from a Finish magazine interviewing Tim Armstrong about the worldwide punk scene and what he thinks of it. He said "Japan has some great bands,California and New York and England has Holy Racket". Flattery indeed!

19/09/05

Been a bit busy lately so it means i've got to remember what's happened over the last 2 months to keep you lot up to date.

Right, we'll start with Wasted Amsterdam - what a weekend that was! Absolutely briiliant to see so many friends from all over Europe, too many to say personally but a BIG thankyou for the support. It also heralded our first T.V. appearance on Dutch t.v. with a half hourly news about the festival and we were lucky enough to be playing while the cameras were there so ended up featured on each broadcast for the next four days. If we had a manager he'd be proud of us!

The venue was cracking and saw a load of great bands(Disturbance,Blood Or Whiskey,Crashed Out,Goldblade, Madsin etc, etc) but really were wasted and took a week to recover - it's not getting any easier!

We've also been added to Wasted Blackpool next year so that's gonna be good.

Got news from our friends from Finland,Dead By Gun, that Tim Armstrong's been talking about The Racket in a recent interview so let's hope it was nice things eh,Tim?

Just said "dooie" to The Jesters and Unite Against Society from Belgium after a great weekend of gigs and partying. Ta for everyone who supported them and especially those who made the effort for the coach trip - i'm sure you'll agree it was worth it.

We've also discussed putting out a joint DVD from the tour with snippits of arsing about, and footage from the gig at Snooty Fox with the best tracks of each band so i'll let you know when it's sorted.

And to the Flems - you're welcome back anytime, thanks for a brilliant time! You're all BEESTIG!!!

09/07/04:

The Racket play WASTED festival in Morecambe on 15th July. It’s their first time, but not Steve’s as he layed with Red London a couple of years ago. Should be a great weekend.

The next weekend, 23rd-25th July, sees The Jesters coming over from Belgium to grace the stages of the North East with their aggressive brand of street punk. (see future gigs)

August sees the band off to Europe for their fifth tour of Belgium, this time including gigs in Holland and Germany. They are looking forward to it as in Europe you actually get food, drink and money there when you play, compared to no food, no drink and no money here.

Somehow in between all of this they are managing to find time to record again at Trinity Heights with Fred Purser (great engineer but shite tea maker – and he nicks all the cans!) Hopefully this will result in a new release in September. We’ll keep you posted.

01/07/04:

After The success of Punk In Sunderland Volume 1, Volume 2 is now available. Affectionately known as PIS & FLEM, it features an extra cd – Punk In Belgium (Flem! Get it?) It has tracks from Sunderland’s finest, Angelic Upstarts, Leatherface, Red Alert, and Holy Racket of course. From Belgium some great songs by Funeral Dress, The Jesters and The Agitators to name but a few. Many thanks to all the sponsors, yes it’s all your fault! It’s available for a fiver from all the bands and some of the sponsors.

The cd is dedicated to Theo Van Roey, who sadly was killed last year, just before his band – Q Garden – were about to record a track for the album. Theo played drums for the Racket on their first tour of Belgium after the lads were dropped in the shite by someone who couldn’t punch a clock in face without breaking his hands (puns intended!). It turned out to be a blessing in disguise as they wouldn’t have known Theo otherwise…thanks Matty!
